Compare passes before multiplying daily fees
Request the options available for your account and itinerary. A carrier pass or included roaming can change the comparison; the headline daily fee alone is not your bill.
As a dated reference, TELUS lists a Europe Easy Roam 14-day pass at CA$50 and a 30-day pass at CA$60 on its Canadian travel page. They use your existing plan’s data, with eligible talk/text benefits. The page specifies activation and use-by conditions; verify them and the eligible-country list before buying. These are published references, not personalised quotes. Check every country and transit stop
Write down your route, then check the eSIM or pass against that list. Do not treat Europe, EU and EU plus UK labels as interchangeable. Include overnight connections where you will leave airport Wi-Fi.

Select the data line deliberately
Install according to the travel provider’s instructions, set the intended line for mobile data and disable automatic data switching where available. The travel eSIM may need data roaming enabled even when you want it disabled on your Canadian line. See the iPhone setup guide.
Calls and texts are a separate decision
If you leave your Canadian line active for verification messages, confirm how other usage is billed. Do not assume Wi-Fi calling is always free abroad. Turning the Canadian line off also affects incoming calls and verification texts, so plan around what you need. Recheck after arrival
Confirm which line is providing data before opening large downloads. Keep maps and bookings offline, monitor the allowance and expiry, and check the settings again if you change packages. No setting checklist can guarantee zero charges across all carriers and devices.
